On 8 November 2025, Sr. Christiane Fritsch FSO, secretary of the Newman Centre and speaker at this jubilee audience, presented the Holy Father with a portrait of Newman. The original oil painting is located in the monastery of Newman’s titular church, San Giorgio in Velabro. With this gift she expressed her gratitude, on behalf of the Spiritual Family The Work, which runs the Newman Centre, for proclaiming Saint John Henry Newman a Doctor of the Church.
During the General Audience on 7 January 2026, Fr Hermann Geissler FSO, director of the Newman Centre, donated to Pope Leo XIV a copy of his book St John Henry Newman. A New Doctor of the Church (The Catholic Truth Society, London 2025). Sr. Anna Düringer FSO, who initiated the Newman Walk in Rome, also had the joy to greet the Holy Father.
