International Centre of Newman Friends

The International Centre of Newman Friends was born in 1975 after the first academic Symposium on John Henry Newman in Rome.

It was founded by The Spiritual Family The Work, an international Catholic community.

OUR GOALS

INTERNATIONAL

We seek to make
Saint John Henry Newman
known on an international level.

PROMOTE

We seek to promote the study and veneration of Saint John Henry Newman as a shining example of Christian life, scholarship and holiness.

COR AD COR

We seek to offer centres of authentic faith inspired by Cardinal Newman’s motto
“Cor ad cor loquitur”
(“Heart speaks to heart”)

LIBRARIES

We seek to offer to students and friends our specialised Newman libraries.

EVENTS

We seek to organise special Newman events: talks, conferences, exhibitions, liturgical celebrations, devotions.

We seek to publish an annual Newsletter in various languages.

I pay tribute to all who have worked so hard over many years to promote the cause of Cardinal Newman, including the Fathers of the Birmingham Oratory and the members of The Spiritual Family “The Work“.

The Newman Centre maintains a library devoted to the works of Newman and provides a reference point for scholars worldwide since its foundation in 1975.

Saint John Henry Newman lived at The College at Littlemore from 1842 – 1846, making it a place of quiet prayer and study for himself and some friends.
