The International Centre maintains a library devoted to all the published works of Newman along with the vast majority of existing translations in other languages. In addition, a great many studies and articles, in a variety of languages, have been collected on Newman and his times. Thus students and others from Rome, Italy and abroad can find the literature necessary for their Newman research and are afforded an opportunity for consultation and assistance. At the same time, the library is at the service of the Bishops and the Holy See to offer advice on various aspects of Newman’s teaching, for example, in conjunction with the Episcopal Synods or on the occasion of commemorative events connected with the English Cardinal.

The Centre constitutes a point of reference for scholars and friends of Newman throughout the world who keep it informed of new publications and major academic and religious events. The Centre in turn collects this information and distributes a Circular Letter to these people worldwide with updated bibliographies, news of common interest, and reflections on Newman for the present day.

Faithful to the motto ‚Cor ad cor loquitur‘ from the cardinalatial arms which Newman bore, the Centre does not wish to be simply a place of study, but also one of personal and spiritual encounter where students and friends can experience the environment of a religious family and participate in its life of prayer. They are encouraged to be guided by Newman’s shining example and to pray for his canonization. In the spirit of Newman, the Centre is likewise open to the faithful of other Christian denominations and to persons who are searching for their vocation and their place in the Church.
